Rutgers has lost for the third straight game after losing at home to Michigan State.

Rutgers lost for a fifth straight game and its 4-2 record in nonconference play is its worst since 2007-08.

The Red Knights have not scored more than 10 points in a game since they lost at Michigan State on Nov. 18.

Michigan State, the reigning Big Ten champs, has lost five straight to Rutgers and six of its last seven in the series.

On Saturday, the Wolverines scored a season-high 21 points on 17-of-21 shooting, but Rutgers held on for a 72-70 victory.

“Our guys played well.

They’re a tough team,” coach Kevin Ollie said.

“They played with a lot of heart and a lot more energy than we did.”
